State Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) joined Tucker Carlson Wednesday night on Fox News to discuss the latest developments in the case of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05).
As The Minnesota Sun reported, Drazkowski and several of his colleagues announced Tuesday that they have submitted formal requests to the IRS and the Minnesota Department of Revenue asking for investigations into Omar’s fraudulent 2014 and 2015 tax returns.
He’s also submitted a formal request for an investigation with the U.S. House Committee on Ethics. Drazkowski told Carlson Wednesday night that the committee is “acting on that at this point.”
“So the Department of Revenue knows about it, they received a letter yesterday from us. The IRS knows about it. Congress knows about it, and the media know about it. We are making certain that all of the people who should be investigating this are aware of it,” he said.
“We’re appealing to the right people. As a matter of fact, you’re right—it was a sham marriage. She lied to cover it up,” Drazkowski said of allegations that Omar married her brother to help him immigrate to the country.
He went on to say that Minnesotans “wouldn’t have elected her and she wouldn’t be in Congress today” if the truth had been revealed sooner.
“If Congress would do their job, she might not be there much longer,” he added. “We’re getting the information in front of people that should be doing the work and we’re simply asking them to do their job.”
Drazkowski concluded the interview by noting that Omar’s office continues to “stonewall” on the allegations against her, saying that’s “the opposite behavior of what you expect to see from someone if they believe that they’re innocent.”
“The media here in Minnesota continues to just have blatant disregard for this and it’s a struggle with the media,” he said.
